Línea de trabajo

Start with the iris_global tool handler in the Rust MCP server and check how subtree=true is translated into the IRIS query for ^SYS("SourceControl","Git","settings"). Reproduce by calling the tool with subtree true against a namespace where that global has child nodes, and compare with a direct read. Done when the subtree call returns the child nodes and a test covers the subtree case.

Descripción

When using the iris_global tool and passing "subtree": true, no results return even though the global being requested has child nodes.

For example, I was setting up git-source-control in my IRIS instance and wanted Claude Code to verify my settings.

The settings global in question looked like this:

When Claude ran the MCP tool, it used these inputs:

{
    ...
    "tool_name": "mcp__test-instance__iris_global",
    "tool_input": {
        "action": "get",
        "global_name": "^SYS",
        "subscripts": [
            "SourceControl",
            "Git",
            "settings"
        ],
        "subtree": true,
        "namespace": "TEST",
        "max_nodes": 200
    },
    "tool_response": "{\"node_count\":0,\"nodes\":[],\"success\":true,\"truncated\":false}",
    ...
}

Because of this, Claude has to manually pull each subscript individually under ^SYS("SourceControl","Git","settings") in order to check the settings instead of getting everything in one call.
