Many Linux users install through their package manager, and an AppImage is the one way Prompuff ships on Linux today. Flathub's rules keep agents out of a Flatpak (#53), so v1.6 leads with a .deb and an AUR package.

What to do

  • The release workflow builds a .deb for x64 and ARM64 beside each AppImage, from the same published files. Velopack doesn't make .deb files, so the linux job builds it with dpkg-deb. It installs the app under /opt/prompuff, a .desktop file and icon, and prompuff on the PATH. Add it to SHA256SUMS and the release.
  • Smoke-test the .deb in the linux job: install it, start the app under Xvfb as the AppImage test does, and run scripts/smoke-cli.sh against the installed prompuff.
  • A prompuff-bin PKGBUILD that wraps the AppImage, kept in the repo (for example packaging/aur/) and pushed to the AUR. Pushing needs the owner's AUR account and SSH key.
  • The data and config folders stay the same as the AppImage's, so switching between them keeps the library.

Done when

  • sudo apt install ./Prompuff-linux-x64.deb on Ubuntu installs a Prompuff that opens, finds its library and runs prompuff, and an AppImage library opens unchanged in it.
  • prompuff-bin installs from the AUR.
  • The README's install section lists both.
