Problem statement

07-first-workflow is now the highest-dropout step in the workshop (21.7% conditional dropout across 21,828 at-risk runs, 95% CI 21.2%–22.3%). 3,851 of 4,743 failures at this step are the copilot-access-missing category — learners whose account or org lacks usable Copilot access. The content itself (07-your-first-workflow.md, 07d-confirm-model-access.md) correctly instructs the compile/commit/push sequence and links out to side-quest-07d-billing-paths.md for billing configuration, but the billing decision is split across three chained pages with no inline summary on 07d-confirm-model-access.md itself (workshop/07d-confirm-model-access.md:48), so learners with access friction must navigate a multi-page detour before they can even diagnose the problem.

Proposed change

  1. Move the Copilot-access pre-check (gh copilot + test prompt) earlier in 07-your-first-workflow.md, before the authoring prompt is introduced, so access problems surface before the learner invests effort in writing the workflow.
  2. Add a 3–4 line inline summary table on 07d-confirm-model-access.md showing both billing paths' key settings (mirroring the "Quick reference" table already in side-quest-07d-billing-paths.md:5-10) so learners get an immediate orientation without leaving the page, while keeping the side quest as the detailed walkthrough.
