Línea de trabajo
This is a multi-step tracking issue, not a single task. Read docs/WORKSPACES_PLAN.md and the referenced #225 first, then the workbench's DockLayout, its strip, and the panes.zon saved-layout code the steps mention. Pick one unchecked step, such as the FIZZY_WORKSPACES=1 gate, and confirm the scope with the maintainers before starting. Done means that step's PR says Part of #260 and the workspace behaviour it describes works behind the flag.

Descripción
The plan is docs/WORKSPACES_PLAN.md, from #225. Groups and the one Workspace are joined into workspaces: any number of tabbed areas of documents, each a view the app places like any other (in Main by default, in a split, or in a float). Only workspaces take documents. Views and workspaces are peers. A closing float moves its documents into the main window's workspace.
Each step is its own PR saying Part of #<this issue>:
- 1. Map the workbench's document path into the plan (in the doc)
- 2. Workspaces as views, behind
FIZZY_WORKSPACES=1 - 3. Documents through the app
- 4. Saved layouts migrate (
panes.zon→layout.zon) - 5. Floats and tear-off
- 6. Remove the workbench's copy (
DockLayoutpanes, its strip, groupings,workbench.workspaces) - 7. Two views of one document, and the SDK change (fingerprint recorded; the version bump rides the next SDK release)
- 8. New windows (⌘N, New Document on ⌘D, the home page)
- Dialogs open in the window asking. Independent of the rest; can land first.
