Start with the design: the capture points are in desktop/electron/main/ (native accessibility APIs), storage goes through sentient/memory/ with source links, and controls belong in desktop/src/features/devices/DesktopPrivacy.tsx and docs/PRIVACY.md. Read how the existing memory store and device privacy settings work, then agree on the design with maintainers, since the issue depends on MEM-3 and SAFE-2. Done when capture is off by default and pausable, excluded apps are never captured, and captured text is searchable and deletable by time range.

Screenpipe's launch drew 218 points on HN, but users report overheating and leaked keys, and its telemetry is on by default. Windows Recall still carries security red flags. Done carefully and locally, activity memory is valuable; it is P2 because the trust cost is high until MEM-3 and SAFE-2 exist.
Idea: An off-by-default capture of the app, window and accessibility-tree text (no video), with app and window exclusions and per-task time-range permissions. It is throttled on battery or heat and pauses with one click.
Status in Sentient today: New.
