Goal

Check that the core holds up across the real session lifecycle: compaction, reload, model and transport switches, and several sessions sharing one client.

Scope

  • Local compaction triggered by the token threshold: the summary is produced through a checked clone, persisted, reloaded, and the first continuation is valid. If continuing would be unsafe, refuse without clearing the context.
  • Native on-demand compaction (Direct only): handle the whole block arriving at content_block_start with no deltas, adopt and reload the signed result, record iteration usage, and keep context intact on refusal or a missing summary. Keep the existing Vertex and Converse exclusions (vertex.go, AWS compaction).
  • Switches: route → rebuild → switch model or transport → add attachment → reload, on each of the three transports.
  • Shared clients: two sessions on one client with different attachments don't leak state into each other. Conversation state stays on the request or session, never on the client (see AGENTS.md, "Client and Session Lifetimes").
  • Pricing: Haiku 5.5 tier boundary at 99,999 / 100,000 / 100,001 prompt tokens, cache included. An unknown producer, endpoint or tariff is reported as unpriced, not free. Confirm the serving model from #4579 survives save and reload.

Acceptance criteria

  • End-to-end tests for each scenario above, using real factories and the runtime against fake servers. Testing a hook on its own doesn't count.
  • go test -race -shuffle=on passes on the runtime and provider packages.
  • A results table per model × transport × feature: pass / fail / not established / expected refusal.
  • task build, task test, task lint pass.
