Línea de trabajo

Start with src/core/test/closedForm.test.ts, which shows where each engine's stated unit convention is checked, then read the Faraday induction engine's code comment about its effective permeability. Option 1 (a note in each guide plus relabelled units) touches only the guides and labels, but the choice between it and real constants needs a maintainer or faculty decision first. Done means that decision is recorded and the chosen change is applied to all three instruments.

Descripción

faculty help wanted physics-review

Three instruments run in scaled units, and nothing in the app says so; their labels read as SI.

  • Faraday induction uses an effective permeability of 1e-3 T·m/A where the real value is 4π×10⁻⁷. Flux and EMF come out about 800 times the real ones, and the braking force, which goes as μ², about 6.3 × 10⁵ times (corrected 2026-11-01, see the review comment). (The engine says so in a code comment only.)
  • Quantum tunnelling is in units where ħ = m = 1, but energies are labelled eV and lengths nm. A real electron at 5 eV has k ≈ 11.5 nm⁻¹; the instrument has k = 3.16.
  • Maxwell-Boltzmann gas has k_B = 1, but temperature, pressure and energy are labelled K, Pa and J.

Found by the independent closed-form checks (src/core/test/closedForm.test.ts), which hold each engine to its stated convention. ROADMAP §4 item 6.

Options

  1. Say so: a one-line note in each instrument's guide and relabel the units as "reduced". Cheap, honest.
  2. Move to real constants. This changes how fast things happen and what the sliders mean, so it needs a faculty review of the new ranges.

Wanted: an opinion from someone who teaches or studies this material: which would you want as a learner? Which of the three matters most?
