Línea de trabajo
Start by reading the implementation of resolver rules and how they consume the tool-versions data; the issue does not name specific files or tests. Trace the node, Java, git, yarn, npm, and poetry cases, including the poetry plugin range decision. Done means each listed rule uses the data as specified and poetry installs handle unsupported plugin versions according to the chosen behavior.

Descripción
What would you like containerbase to do?
Keep the special rules of some resolvers, but apply them to the tool-versions data instead of their own upstream lookups.
Required changes
- node, java, java-jdk, java-jre:
latestis the newest LTS release (tool-levelltsflag, containerbase/tool-versions#150) - java*: the version list per arch (containerbase/tool-versions#148)
- git: a partial, too old or vendor version installs the newest prebuild with a warning
- yarn, yarn-slim: the major selects the npm package (
yarnor@yarnpkg/cli-dist) - npm tools:
latestis thelatestdist-tag, a partial version skips deprecated versions (tool-levellatestand per-versiondeprecatedin the tool-versions data) - poetry:
latestis the newest poetry within the poetry range ofpoetry-plugin-pypi-mirror, see below
poetry
- Right after a poetry release the mirror plugin doesn't support it yet, for a short time.
- Today
latestresolves to the newest poetry within the plugin's range, which needs a PyPI lookup of the plugin. - An install must not fail when the plugin has no release for the poetry version yet: install poetry and skip the plugin with a warning, or keep the newest poetry the plugin supports.
- Decide which of both, and whether the plugin range stays a PyPI lookup or comes from the data.
