Línea de trabajo

Start with the git installer's runtime package list, which is referenced for both the prepare and install steps, and remove the perl, liberror-perl, git-man and libcurl3-gnutls (libcurl3t64-gnutls on noble and newer) entries. Then update docs/custom-base-image.md to say that images needing them should use install-apt. Done when both steps no longer install those packages and the docs mention the change. The issue is a breaking-change proposal awaiting maintainer agreement, so confirm the approach before starting.

Descripción

breaking

What would you like containerbase to do?

In the next major release, stop installing the apt packages that Ubuntu's git used to pull in: perl, liberror-perl, git-man and libcurl3-gnutls (libcurl3t64-gnutls on noble and newer).

Why

  • git comes from our prebuild (#7778), built with NO_PERL and linked against the distro's libcurl4, so it needs none of them.
  • install-tool git only keeps installing them for compatibility, so custom images that rely on them (shasum and other perl scripts, man git, binaries linked to libcurl-gnutls.so.4) don't break in a minor release.

Proposal

  • Remove the compatibility packages from the git installer's runtime packages, on prepare and on install.
  • Mention the change in the release notes and in docs/custom-base-image.md: images that need them install them with install-apt.
