The payload names no files, tests or entry points, so start by finding where the project page and repository binding are rendered and whether the codebase already has any commit or push logic. The issue offers two alternatives, an auto-commit setting or a Source Control panel, and no decision has been made, so the first step is to ask a maintainer which one to build. Done means that choice is agreed and the repository status states are defined.

Descripción

Feedback title: GitHub Sync Workflow Is Hidden and Risky for Large Projects

Feedback details: I tested the complete GitHub integration workflow and found a major usability issue.

Steps performed:

  1. Created a new GitHub repository.
  2. Bound the repository to a MonkeyCode project.
  3. Generated files successfully using tasks.
  4. Verified files existed in the MonkeyCode workspace.
  5. Opened the project page and repository page.
  6. Could not find any visible Commit, Push, Pull, Sync, or Source Control buttons.
  7. GitHub repository remained empty even though files existed inside MonkeyCode.
  8. Eventually discovered that I had to ask MonkeyCode through a prompt to run git add, git commit, and git push manually.

Problem:

The current workflow makes it appear that GitHub is connected and synced when it is not.

A user can generate a large amount of code and assume it is safely stored in GitHub, but in reality no commit or push has occurred.

For large projects this becomes a serious risk because users may:

  • Lose work
  • Forget to commit
  • Forget to push
  • Assume GitHub is already up to date
  • Create multiple tasks that never reach the repository

The Git workflow is currently hidden behind prompts instead of a visible user interface.

Expected result:

MonkeyCode should provide a clear GitHub workflow with visible controls such as:

  • Commit
  • Push
  • Pull
  • Sync
  • Sync status

At minimum, the project page should clearly display:

Repository Status:

  • Synced
  • Uncommitted Changes
  • Push Required
  • Pull Required

Suggested improvement:

Add an optional project setting:

"Automatically commit and push changes after successful tasks."

or

Add a dedicated Source Control panel similar to VS Code showing:

  • Changed files
  • Commit message
  • Commit button
  • Push button
  • Pull button
  • Last sync time

Why this matters:

For small testing projects this is manageable.

For large repositories with hundreds of files and ongoing development, hidden Git operations create confusion and increase the risk of data loss.

Expected result: When a repository is connected, users should have a simple and visible way to:

  • Commit changes
  • Push changes
  • Pull changes
  • Verify repository sync status
