Línea de trabajo

Start with the linked js/scene/HDR.md section, then inspect the scene’s linear-HDR compositing and Neutral tone-mapping path; the issue does not name the implementation files or tests. Compare the #192 views with the proposed camera response enabled and disabled, and verify the crescent, earthlit Moon and HIP 46635 ratios while the existing star-calibration probe remains unchanged.

Descripción

enhancement track:rendering

Follow-up of #192, recorded in HDR.md, a star beside the Moon.

Problem

The scene buffer is linear HDR and ends in one tone map, PBR Neutral, whose quadratic toe is calibrated to the eye (the limit star sits at 12 of 255). For a telescope's field of a bright source and faint ones together, the toe takes the faint values far below where a camera's response puts them. At the occultation view (#192, ev=10): the earthlit side of the Moon against HIP 46635 is about 1:3 in light, and on screen 20 against 175. With the lit edge in the frame the Moon holds the meter and the star, 1/274 of a lit pixel at #198's 1.8″ pixels, is under the toe. The photographs show both.

Proposal

A camera response beside the eye's, not a change to it: composite in linear light and end in a camera's curve (a filmic/sRGB-like response with a linear toe) rather than Neutral's toe, for a telescope's field or as a switch (a letter in s= and a Settings entry, like the other view switches). The eye's calibration of the star field (the limit star at 12 of 255) is the toe's, so the eye stays the default.

Done when

At #192's views the crescent, the earthlit side and HIP 46635 keep their ratios on screen as a camera records them, with the switch on; with it off, nothing changes (the star calibration probe of #153 is unchanged).

Related: #192, #109, #155 (telescope mode), #163 (the moonlit sky), veiling glare (HDR.md, pre-exposure).
