Línea de trabajo

Start by tracing the queue-add flow that logs “Updating video info” and identify which video metadata work runs for each file; the issue does not name source files or tests. Reproduce with a folder of 100+ videos on Windows 11 and profile the slow step. Done means files are added without the reported 20–40 second pauses and the UI remains responsive.

Descripción

bug

FastFlix Version:

Latest 6.3.2

Operating System:

Windows 11

Tested on 2 systems, fresh fastflix installs, same thing

Describe the bug

After selecting a directory with a decent amount of files (100+) for a batch encode job, the initial parse in the small window (when choosing a profile) is fast, but then when adding the files to the queue the process quickly drops to an agonisingly slow crawl, always taking a long time, up to 20-40 seconds on the "Updating video info" step in the console window before moving on to the next file.

While it's paused, fastflix CPU usage pegs around 8-9% on a 6C/12T CPU, and the UI window is completely unresponsive. No notable disk IO. Something seems to be very wrong with the "updating video info" process, what on earth could it be doing that it's maxing out a core for nearly a minute for every video?

For comparison, competing tools are much faster. XMedia Recode briefly scans and adds 5-20 (depending on filesize/internal complexity) files a second regardless of queue size, and A's video converter is instant, presumably it only scans upon reaching the file while doing the batch encode. It's hard to fathom what on earth Fastflix is up to that's taking so long.

To Reproduce
Add a large folder of video files for a batch job and watch it slow to a crawl.

Preset does not seem to matter, either my intended one (a custom AV1 via QSVEnc profile with pattern matched audio conversion) or one of the stock profiles.

Logs
Nothing telling in the logs, though you can see from the timestamps the enormous pauses every time it's "Updating video info" (personal info / video names cropped out):
