The work is a build migration: AGP 8.13 to 9.1, compileSdk 36 to 37, and Gradle 9, with the org.jetbrains.kotlin.android plugin removed because AGP 9 supplies Kotlin support. Start by running the current build and tests to get a baseline, then find where the AGP, Gradle and compileSdk versions are declared. Done means the project builds and tests pass on the new versions, and the listed dependencies (androidx.core, Compose UI, lifecycle-runtime-compose) can be bumped.

The project is still on AGP 8.13 and compileSdk 36.
Several dependencies can't be updated until we move to AGP 9.1 and compileSdk 37:
- androidx.core 1.19.x
- Compose UI 1.12.x
- androidx.lifecycle 2.11.x (
lifecycle-runtime-composerequires AGP 9.1)
AGP 9 has built-in Kotlin support, so the org.jetbrains.kotlin.android plugin and parts of the build scripts will need to change. Gradle 9 should be done as part of the same migration.
