Start with WorkbenchHome.swift around engineBanner (lines 779-805) and hasCurrentWork (690-697), then WorkbenchQuickPanel.swift lines 179 and 325 for the orange caption text, and HomePermissions.swift lines 609-631 for the truncated permission names. Check the design rules in WorkbenchPageStyle.swift (71-73) and docs/desktop.md before changing colours. Done means the Home Current work row shows while the writing model is ready, warnings use WorkbenchNote, long permission names wrap, and the gallery renders pass.

Outcome: Home shows what it promises, and the panel's recovery line follows the kit's contrast rule.

1. Writing-model line on Home
  • Problem: while speech is ready, Home never shows an Ollama download or its failure. The line lives only in engineBanner (WorkbenchHome.swift:779-805), which is shown only when !model.ready (:713, :821), and hasCurrentWork (:690-697) ignores it. This contradicts docs/workbench.md:235 and the gallery caption (SurfaceGallery.swift:1003-1005).
  • Change: while ready, add a Current work row with a symbol, the line, progress and the existing Models… door. Guard it with ready || !guideShows.
  • Check: folded-states render assertions plus a failure shot.
2. Attention contrast
  • Problem: orange caption text at WorkbenchQuickPanel.swift:325 and :179. The kit says orange never carries text (WorkbenchPageStyle.swift:71-73; docs/desktop.md:48).
  • Change: show warnings with WorkbenchNote, an orange symbol beside primary text.
  • Check: the microphone-denied render; non-warning renders are unchanged.
3. Permission names wrap
  • Problem: at the minimum window size, names truncate to “Call au…” and “Screen & System…” (HomePermissions.swift:609-631).
  • Change: ViewThatFits drops the badge under the name, and the name wraps.
  • Check: the gallery asserts no clipping in narrow and work-Mac renders.
Value before scope
  1. Outcome: Home and the panel are truthful and readable. Evidence: the renders and code.
  2. Simpler route: reuse existing rows and the kit note.
  3. Owner: Home's Current work, PanelRecoveryRow and the permissions row.
  4. Complexity: no new controls.
  5. Verified by: gallery assertions.
