Línea de trabajo

The issue links a reproducer under languages/rust/cpal; start by reading that example and run it with cargo run on Ubuntu 18.04, then switch tabs or trigger another resource-intensive action. Investigate why the output stream stops being called with a small buffer after that activity; done means the stream continues or reports an error instead of falling silent.

Hey,

Thanks for the ability to specify buffer size! Took me a while to think to just instantiate my own StreamConfig.

Anyway, I've been keeping an eye on cpal because I want to move off the portaudio crate, which has similar performance to what I'm reporting here.

In particular, I find that the output stream stops getting called with no error when I'm using a small buffer size, and I do something "resource-intensive" like alt-tab to another program. This is distinct from an underrun, which also happens sometimes. However, to my knowledge, underruns should cause a click, not eternal silence. But I think this problem is the next domino falling after an underrun.

My system is running Ubuntu 18.04.

Code here, just cargo run and switch tabs in your browser or other "resource-intensive" actions.

Curious if others have experience attempting low-latency with cpal, or what else I could offer to clarify what's going on.

Best,
Dan
