Línea de trabajo

Start by reading uk_review_bounds.json and the comparator in uk_candidate.py, then trace how decile rows and their gbp_household units are handled. Choose and justify a unit-consistent bound while preserving historical receipts. Add a test showing that a sub-pound change in a decile mean does not flag and a material share shift does.

Descripción

Found while reviewing candidate 2.136.0 + uk-data 1.58.2 (pair 7f2b5855…, ledger attempt 4773da7ff7c0).

uk_review_bounds.json defines kind decile with absolute 0.005 and relative 0, described as half a point on a decile share. The metrics report's decile rows are mean household incomes, with unit gbp_household, and the comparator in uk_candidate.py applies the bound to their raw difference. So a £0.005 change in a decile's mean income raises a flag. On this candidate that's 70 of the 148 model-only and 70 of the 105 data-only metric flags.

Fix options (pick and justify):

  • (a) compare decile shares (decile income / total), so the 0.005 share bound means what it says; or
  • (b) give gbp_household decile means a unit-correct bound (e.g. relative), consistent with the other kinds.

Keep historical receipts as they are, and add a test that a sub-pound change in a decile mean doesn't flag while a material share shift does.
