Línea de trabajo

Start from the Reconcile methods of NVIDIADriverReconciler and GPUClusterReconciler, where the RequeueAfter 5s return with a nil error happens, and from the state manager's handling of ErrInfo. Check how minDelayCR and maxDelayCR are wired into the rate limiter. Done means a permanently failing state backs off instead of requeuing every 5s, while the waiting-for-pods case still requeues or relies on the DaemonSet watches. Confirm the choice between the two proposals with a maintainer first.

Descripción

feature lifecycle/frozen needs-triage

Motivation
When a state is not ready, NVIDIADriverReconciler.Reconcile and GPUClusterReconciler.Reconcile return RequeueAfter: 5s with a nil error, including when a state reports an ErrInfo (a render or apply error that will not fix itself). The controllers' exponential rate limiter (minDelayCR..maxDelayCR) is bypassed, so a permanently broken pool re-renders and re-applies every manifest about 720 times an hour, with matching log volume.

Proposal

  • When any state returns ErrInfo, return the error so the rate limiter applies backoff.
  • Keep a short requeue only for "waiting for pods", or rely on the DaemonSet watches the state manager already registers to trigger the next reconcile.
