Línea de trabajo

Start by reproducing the reported mainnet topology with cardano-node 11.1.3, then compare its behavior with 11.1.2. Follow the reported BlockFetch.Decision.PeerStarvedUs and ChainDB.AddBlockEvent.TrySwitchToAFork events alongside the historicity error. Done means the 11.1.3 nodes adopt blocks from the healthy local peer and extend the chain under the described localRoots-only setup.

Descripción

Summary:

After upgrading from cardano-node 11.1.2 to 11.1.3, a locked-down relay and block producer stopped adopting blocks from a healthy local peer. Reverting to 11.1.2 immediately restored normal sync.Environment

Network: mainnet (Conway era)

OS: Ubuntu 24.04

Topology: useLedgerAfterSlot: -1, publicRoots: [], bootstrapPeers: null, localRoots only

Layout:

  • Public relay at tip, port 6000
  • Security relay peers only local roots (public relay + BP + site-to-site VIPs)
  • Block producer peers only the security relay

Symptoms on 11.1.3:

  • Repeated BlockFetch.Decision.PeerStarvedUs from the healthy local peer (public relay:6000)
  • ChainDB.AddBlockEvent.TrySwitchToAFork for higher slots, but tip frozen (no AddedToCurrentChain / chain extended)
  • When further behind: HistoricityError / HistoricalMsgAwaitReply with historicity cutoff violation, then ShutdownPeer
  • NoLedgerView on the BP forging loop while tip lagged wall clock
  • TCP connectivity to the peer was fine; chrony, disk, and memory were healthy

Contrast

After reverting all three nodes to 11.1.2, sync behavior returned to normal

Expected: 11.1.3 should adopt blocks from a healthy local peer under a locked-down localRoots topology, same as 11.1.2.

Actual: 11.1.3 starves the peer and fails to adopt, even when the peer is at tip and reachable.
