Context
Certifying a ledger verifies about 30 signatures one by one (benches/verify.rs: about 6 ms per certificate). ed25519-dalek's batch verification can check them together, which matters for certify over whole checkpoints and for wallets on slow devices.
Scope
- Verify the envelopes of one certificate with batch verification, falling back to per-signature checks to find which one failed.
- Keep fail-closed semantics: a batch failure must never be reported as success.
- Report before and after numbers from
cargo bench.
Out of scope: Changing which signatures count toward the quorum.
Done when
- All existing tests, including
tests/tamper.rs, pass unchanged. - The benchmark shows a measurable improvement, recorded in the PR.
