The payload names no source files. Start by finding where the Angular UI already serves static root files such as robots.txt, and where configuration exposes the sitemap, OAI-PMH and REST base URLs. Done means /llms.txt is served at the UI root, built from configuration, with the required fields listed in the issue and cacheable output. Agree the exact content and format with maintainers first, since the issue leaves it open and is linked to #13223.

Descripción

needs discussion new feature

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

This feature request is related to https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/issues/13223

AI agents that access a DSpace repository currently have no direct way to "learn" what the repository contains and which access paths are intended for AI agents. They typically start from the home page and follow links, including search pages and facet filter combinations.

llms.txt is a proposed convention for this purpose. It is a Markdown file at the root of a repository (like robots.txt) that briefly describes the repository and contains URLs of relevant resources for AI agents.

Describe the solution you'd like

DSpace should serve an llms.txt file at the root of the UI, e.g. https://sandbox.dspace.org/llms.txt.

The file should be generated from configuration and include at least the following information:

  • Repository name (optionally a short description of the repository)
  • sitemap URL(s)
  • base URL of OAI-PMH endpoint (if enabled)
  • a description of the item landing page URL patterns
  • a reference to the Markdown representation of item landing pages (see #13223)
  • optionally: links to all top-level communities
  • optionally: notes on usage terms, licensing, and preferred access paths
  • optionally: base URL of the REST API and its documentation (and preferred access paths)

llms.txt could be served analogous to robots.txt and it should be static or cacheable, since its content rarely changes.

Describe alternatives or workarounds you've considered

Current behavior without llms.txt: AI Agents rely on robots.txt, sitemap(s) and HTML pages (containing a lot of presentation related markup)
