Línea de trabajo

Start by reading the README's future-work section and tracing how a Dot currently uses its page, research, and computer tools, including how threads, permissions, and Pause and turn limits work. Then assess where a bounded ask_dot task could run in another Dot's thread and return as a card. Done means the first slice supports same-workspace delegation while preserving the stated safeguards: optional review, depth 1, and limits applying to both Dots.

Descripción

OpenDots is presented as a team of AI coworkers, but Dots can't currently work with each other. Each Dot only has page, research and computer tools; there is no way for one Dot to ask another for help, and the README lists multi-Dot conversations and automatic delegation as future work.

How we hit it: we set up a two-Dot team, a researcher (Scout) and an editor (Writer, research disabled). The only hand-off available was manual: Scout saved a page, then we opened the page chat and switched the picker to Writer. Writer never sees Scout's conversation, and Scout can't hand work to Writer or wait for its result.

Proposal (first slice): an ask_dot tool that lets a Dot send a bounded sub-task to another Dot in the same workspace. The task runs in the target Dot's own thread with its own permissions and Space access, and the result returns to the caller as a card. Keep the existing safeguards: an optional review card before dispatch, no recursive delegation (depth 1), and Pause and turn limits apply to both Dots. A shared group conversation could come later.

This is separate from #41, which covers agents owned by different people.
