Línea de trabajo

Start with src/lib/course_codes_map.ts and the course rendering and timetable entry points CourseCard.tsx, FacultySelector.tsx and ViewTimeTable.tsx; first review the related issues #290, #287 and #291, which this feature depends on. Check the course code list against the VIT catalogue, then trace how selected courses and the All Subjects Mode OFF results are assembled. Done means course credits, previews and totals match the described rules, including unknown credits and courses left out.

Descripción

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

A student can take at most 27 credits, but the site never shows credits. The course data (src/data/*) and saved courses (fullCourseData) don't have them, so students add them up by hand.

Describe the solution you'd like
  • Each course row in Your Courses shows its credits under its slots, e.g. "4 credits". An L + P pair adds both, and an E course counts once.
  • Your Courses shows the total beside the title, e.g. "8 / 27 credits", starting at "0 / 27".
  • Once a subject is picked, the Subject field shows what it adds, e.g. "+3 credits → 11 / 27". While editing (#291) it shows the change, e.g. "No change".
  • Over 27, the total and the preview turn red, but adding is still allowed.
  • With All Subjects Mode OFF, a timetable that leaves a course out shows its own total, e.g. "5 / 27 credits (1 course left out)".
  • Courses with unknown credits show "-", and the total shows "8+ / 27".
  • Credits come from a course code list checked against the VIT catalogue, not worked out from slots.
Additional context

Depends on #290 (course list layout), #287 (Subject dropdown) and #291 (edit mode).

Related: #288 (filter tags row), #258 (All Subjects Mode OFF results), #256 (E courses).

CourseCard.tsx, FacultySelector.tsx and ViewTimeTable.tsx are changed by other open issues, so expect merge conflicts.

Example

One way to build it (just an idea):

  • Add a course_credits_map and CREDIT_LIMIT next to course_type_map in src/lib/course_codes_map.ts
  • Add a getCourseCredits(course) helper and use it in CourseCard.tsx, FacultySelector.tsx and ViewTimeTable.tsx
export const CREDIT_LIMIT = 27;
const total = selectedCourses.reduce((sum, c) => sum + (getCourseCredits(c) ?? 0), 0);
