Research direction

Start by reading the ResolveIntent implementation shipped in v14.88.0 and the existing dependsOn form defaults described in the issue, then trace how line prices are populated in forms and server-side create paths. Compare the two proposed approaches and determine how the resolver should handle a header being edited, fallback defaults, and user-entered prices. Done means price-list prices appear before saving when applicable, while uncovered items retain the existing default and manually entered prices are preserved.

Description

What happens

#7025 shipped what a price list needs on the server: resolves: with a header-path match:/between: and a scalar copy: (v14.88.0 ResolveIntent). Adopting it for a per-product-per-list PriceListItem (BusinessIntents billing, dirigible#7025's own example) hits the line FORM:

  • the line's price already has a UI default, the conditional dependsOn from the product (Product.price, or Product.wholesalePrice for a wholesale customer - #6358/#6442), so the form always POSTs a price;
  • copy: writes only into an EMPTY field (the never-overwrite rule), so the price-list price is never applied to a line entered in the form - the one path where a price list matters;
  • removing the dependsOn default instead leaves the form with no price until after the save (and price is required on the line), and the async resolve fills it only after the user has saved a line whose total they have not seen.

The server-side paths that would leave the price empty (create-from, recurring schedules) all map price from their source line, so on them the resolver never fires either.

Ask

One source for the line price in both places, e.g. either

  1. dependsOn from a register lookup: dependsOn: { resolve: priceFromList, valueFrom: price } - the form asks the generated resolver (same match/between, evaluated against the header the line is being added to) and pre-fills the found row's price, falling back to the existing conditional default when nothing covers; or
  2. copy: that may replace a value equal to the declared UI default (copy: { price: price }, over: default): the server overwrites the price only when it still equals what the dependsOn default would have filled, so a typed price stands.

Filed from BusinessIntents base-sales-invoices (pre-train wave 2026-10-17, W-B item 13: PriceListItem). The module keeps the Wholesale/Retail product-column prefill until one of these exists.
