Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by evaluating asynchronous writing with aiofiles versus standard-library file writing, then work out the proposed per-value and new-node locking model. The issue does not define an implementation scope or concrete completion criteria.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

  • Check if writing values asynchronously is worth it. Apparently libraries like aiofiles can have a significant performance overhead compared to the stdlib file writing, but it would avoid locking a whole database because of one write.
  • Think of how locking will work after that's done. I'm guessing one RWLock for each value, and also one for adding new nodes would work.
