Research direction

Start by reading the repository’s Redmine 7.0 image build files and README to see how system packages and image-specific requirements are handled. Check whether the Debian trixie package version of pandoc meets the stated needs: .xlsx and .pptx previews require 3.8.3 or newer. Done means the image includes a suitable pandoc version or the README explains how to enable Office previews in a derived image.

Description

Summary

Redmine 7.0 added a built-in preview for Office/LibreOffice attachments (Feature #8959). It needs pandoc, which is not included in the official redmine:7.0 images, so the feature does not work out of the box: Office files can only be downloaded.

Details
  • Tested on redmine:7.0.2: no Office preview without pandoc; after adding pandoc, .docx, .odt, .xlsx and .pptx previews work.
  • .xlsx and .pptx need pandoc 3.8.3 or newer. Debian trixie (the image base) ships 3.1.11, which only covers .docx and .odt.
Proposal

Add pandoc to the image, or mention in the README that Office preview needs pandoc in a derived image.
