Research direction

Read the “Package metadata and information files” section and locate the existing semver entry. Check the linked smvr package details against that section’s scope, then add an entry alongside semver if it fits. Done when the section describes both options accurately and the task view’s formatting is preserved.

Description

I'd like to suggest adding smvr to the "Package metadata and information files" section, alongside semver.

I'm the author of smvr.
It implements Semantic Versioning 2.0.0 using a fully vectorized vctrs class, supporting comparisons, sorting, and seamless integration with tibble and dplyr.
Unlike semver, it does not require compilation and works naturally with R's vector operations.

I think listing both packages would help readers discover the different approaches available for working with semantic versions in R.
