Research direction

The issue identifies the Returns paragraph in [set.symmetric.difference] and compares it with [set.union]. Read those subclauses in the draft source, confirm the surrounding definitions and matching wording, then make the suggested wording consistent. Done means the condition says “if N is equal to M” and the change is covered by the project’s usual document checks.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

In [set.symmetric.difference] paragraph "Returns" (main 47974a2f, same as N5050), the second bullet reads: "{last1, last2, result + N} for the overloads in namespace ranges, if N is equal to M + K."

The paragraph defines M, N, A and B, but K is not defined in it or in the surrounding subclause. The analogous Returns of ranges::set_union ([set.union]) has the same three bullets with the condition "if N is equal to M", so "+ K" looks like a leftover from editing. I think this is editorial because the intent is clear from that parallel; if the editors disagree it should go to LWG.

Suggested fix: change "if N is equal to M + K" to "if N is equal to M".
