Research direction

The spelling gate is the check:spelling script in package.json, which lists docs and *.md but not blog. Add blog to that path list, then add the eleven author-name words from blog/authors.yml to words: in .cspell.yml, keeping one casing per name as tests/cspell-config.test.mjs requires. Done when npm run check:spelling passes over blog/ and that test file still passes.

Finding

check:spelling in package.json reads docs and root-level *.md only:

"check:spelling": "npx cspell --no-progress -c .cspell.yml docs *.md"

blog/ — two published posts plus authors.yml — is never spell-checked, even though the other prose gates already cover it: _list:check:md (used by check:links since #1404 and by check:markdown) enumerates blog/**. Spelling is the one prose gate that stops at docs/.

Verified against main @ eff33b5: npx cspell --no-progress -c .cspell.yml blog checks 4 files and reports 18 issues, all in blog/authors.yml — every one a real author name or handle (Aniszczyk, Dvoretskyi, Ihor, Killen, Krook, Sica, caniszczyk, idvoretskyi, jeefy, krook, mrbobbytabl, mrbobbytables), not a typo. The two posts themselves are clean, so the gap is latent: the next typo in a blog post sails through npm test.

Recommendation

  1. Add blog to the check:spelling path list in package.json.
  2. Add the eleven author-name words (one casing each — cspell matches case-insensitively, and tests/cspell-config.test.mjs rejects entries that differ from an existing one only by case) to words: in .cspell.yml so the gate is green from the start.

One deliverable: same one-line script change plus its allowlist support, in one PR.
