Research direction

Start at the htmx constructor and initialization path mentioned in the issue, then trace where the default config and indicator CSS are created. Check how the import initializes the instance and whether configuration can be applied before styles are added. Done means setting htmx.config.includeIndicatorCSS to false prevents the indicator CSS from being included; add or run a regression test for that behavior.

Description

Version: 4 latest

If you're importing and bundling htmx with JS, import creates and initialises new htmx() object.

In constructor, htmx sets default config and immediately creates css styles, giving you no way to turn them off via htmx.config

import htmx from 'htmx.org';
// htmx already included css styles for .htmx-indicator
htmx.config.includeIndicatorCSS = false; // does nothing
