Research direction

Start with integration_test/document_rag_e2e_test.dart and the failing blank-picture case that expects DocumentIndexStatus.notSearchable; run that test and inspect how image labels and OCR contribute to indexing. The issue leaves the cause unresolved, so trace the relevant indexer behavior before choosing a fix. Done when the blank picture is not searchable and the related passing cases still behave as expected.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

bug good first issue

Reproduced on main (vivo 1933, run 2026-10-19), not caused by #289 or #299.

integration_test/document_rag_e2e_test.dart → images (real ML Kit OCR) a picture with no text is kept but not searchable:

Expected: DocumentIndexStatus.notSearchable Actual: DocumentIndexStatus.indexed (log: indexed e2eimage (image) — 1 chunks in 4s)

The test renders a blank picture (_renderBlank). The indexer produced one chunk, so the picture was indexed, most likely from an ML Kit image label rather than OCR text. Either the image-label step now labels a blank picture (the test image or the label confidence cut-off needs adjusting), or the indexer should not index a picture with only a low-value label. Not yet diagnosed which.

Other cases in the file pass (12 passed, 4 skipped, this one failed).
