Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are identified. First investigate how MySQL binary log backups could support point-in-time recovery and how xtrabackup incremental backups relate to a possible backup-sets feature. Done requires a defined scope and design for both requests, including the restore workflow.

Description

Hello,

I think a nice feature would be the MySQL binary log backup. This can be used for point in time recovery when performing a restore using of course the full backup as base.
Somehow related is the xtrabackup incremental feature which is very useful for larger databases but this probably means adding "backup sets" feature.

Thanks,
Alex
