Research direction

Start with the Client setup and client.ping() call shown in the issue, then inspect the React Native starter's Appwrite SDK dependency and available Client methods. Reproduce the error on macOS and confirm whether the supported SDK API or the starter's setup needs correction; done means the documented ping check runs without the reported "not a function" error.
