Research direction

No source files, tests, entry points, sort order, or configuration details are named in the issue. Start by tracing where the Maven Checkstyle plugin creates its XML report, then clarify the expected ordering and option shape before deciding what tests would demonstrate that the report is sorted.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

enhancement priority:minor

Dustin Singleton opened MCHECKSTYLE-369 and commented

It would be nice to be able to have the result checkstyle report sorted.  I have noticed that it differs from linux to windows machines.  While this might be a checkstyle thing for how the report is generated, I think it would be nice to make it an option in checkstyle plugin to just sort the xml document that is created.

I'd be willing to do the work for it, but wanted to submit this here first to determine whether or not the pull request would be accepted if I did the work.
