Research direction

The report reproduces missing OpenTelemetry shared libraries after installing libarrow2600 on Debian trixie and Ubuntu resolute. Start by locating the packaging metadata that defines libarrow2600's runtime dependencies, then check how dependencies are declared for these distributions. Done when installing libarrow2600 pulls in opentelemetry-cpp and the reported libraries resolve.

Description

Component: Packaging Type: bug
Describe the bug, including details regarding any error messages, version, and platform.

The missing dependency can be confirmed with the following command:

docker container run --rm -it debian:trixie bash -c '
apt update && apt install -y -V ca-certificates wget
wget https://packages.apache.org/artifactory/arrow/debian/apache-arrow-apt-source-latest-trixie.deb
apt install -y -V ./apache-arrow-apt-source-latest-trixie.deb
apt update
apt install -y -V libarrow2600
ldd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libarrow.so.2600 | grep "not found"
'

libopentelemetry_xxx are reported as not found:

...snip
    libopentelemetry_exporter_otlp_http_log.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_exporter_ostream_span.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_exporter_otlp_http.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_otlp_recordable.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_trace.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_logs.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_resources.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_exporter_otlp_http_client.so => not found
    libopentelemetry_proto.so => not found

Running apt install -y -V opentelemetry-cpp resolves this.
The same happens on Ubuntu resolute.

I think libarrow2600 should depend on opentelemetry-cpp so that it is installed together.
