Description

question

Hello,

I am using Media3 / ExoPlayer in my Android application, and I need to play AVI and WMV video files inside the app.

Currently these files fail to play, and I would like to know the correct way to support them using ExoPlayer.

I would appreciate clarification about:

  • Does ExoPlayer officially support AVI and WMV?
  • Is the issue related to the container format or the codecs inside the files?
  • Is using the FFmpeg extension the official or recommended solution?
  • Are there any examples or configuration steps to enable support for these formats?
  • What is the best approach to play these files directly without converting them to MP4?

My goal is to support direct playback of these formats using Media3 / ExoPlayer.

Thank you.
