Research direction

Start by tracing the custom dictionary flow from the menu item through recording validation and manual entry, then follow how replacements move from the live dictation popup to inserted text. Reproduce both reported behaviors with “Interiorcad” on macOS. Done means the word can be added when recordings are rejected, the warning offers a manual-add path, and the replacement remains in the final inserted text.

Description

bug
Describe the bug

After recording the word "Interiorcad" three times, then clicking the 'Add' button, FluidVoice warns "These recordings contain everyday words. Try again, or add a replacement manually." – I understand how 'interior' and 'cad' will trigger this, but it is a false positive. But the bigger issue is that there is no option to then add it manually.

Reproduction steps

Related Issue 1 – Adding a custom dictionary entry

  1. Select 'Custom Dictionary' from the FluidVoice menu bar menu.
  2. Enter the word 'Interiorcad'.
  3. Follow the prompts to make three audio recordings saying 'Interiorcad'.
  4. Click 'Add "Interiorcad" to dictionary'.
  5. A warning appears advising the user to add the word manually, but no option to do so is presented.

Related Issue 2 – Custom dictionary replacement not applied

  1. Return to the custom dictionary entry process and choose to add 'Interiorcad' manually.
  2. In the 'Test "Interiorcad"' field, dictate 'interior cad'.
  3. Observe that the live dictation popup correctly displays 'Interiorcad'.
  4. End dictation and observe the inserted text.
Expected behavior
  • The dictionary should accept specialised words such as 'Interiorcad', even when they contain common words or recognisable word components.
  • If the recordings are rejected, the warning should provide a direct option to add the word manually, without requiring the user to restart the process and discover an earlier option.
  • Once a custom dictionary entry is recognised and displayed correctly in the live dictation popup, the final inserted text should retain that replacement.
Actual behavior
  • After three recordings of 'Interiorcad', FluidVoice displays: "These recordings contain everyday words. Try again, or add a replacement manually." This appears to be a false positive.
  • Although the warning suggests adding the word manually, it provides no way to do so. The user must restart the process and discover the manual entry option at an earlier step. This creates an unnecessary and confusing dead end.
  • After manually adding 'Interiorcad', dictating 'interior cad' in the test field initially produces the correct 'Interiorcad' in the live dictation popup. However, when dictation ends, the actual inserted text is "Interior care".
