Research direction

Start with src/main/ipc.ts and follow the existing op:reveal-data flow, then read the listed shared API, preload, mock API, shelf menu, inspector, and environment files. Run pnpm typecheck and the checks in CONTRIBUTING.md. Done when both file actions reveal the selected file in its folder with an OS-appropriate label, missing files do not crash, and the pull request states which OS you tested.

Description

enhancement good first issue

File cards keep the paths of the files you copied, but there's no way to jump to them. Add a "Show in Finder" action (macOS), "Show in Explorer" (Windows) or "Show in folder" (Linux) to a file card's right-click menu and to the inspector, using Electron's shell.showItemInFolder.

This touches each layer of the app once, so it's a good way to learn how the shelf talks to the main process.

Where to look
  • src/main/ipc.ts: add an op:reveal-item handler next to op:reveal-data. Have it take the item's id, look the item up with store.get and reveal item.files[0], so the shelf can't ask for an arbitrary path to be opened
  • src/shared/types.ts: add revealItem(id: string): void to OpenPasteAPI
  • src/preload/index.ts: wire revealItem to the new channel, like revealDataFolder
  • src/renderer/src/demo/mockApi.ts: a no-op, like revealDataFolder, so pnpm typecheck passes
  • src/renderer/src/shelf/shelf-app/shelf-app.tsx: a menuEntries entry for item.kind === 'file'. The folder icon already exists
  • src/renderer/src/shelf/shelf-app/components/inspector/inspector.tsx: a button among the actions for file items
  • src/renderer/src/env.ts: platform and isMac, for picking the label
Done when
  • Right-clicking a file card and choosing the new action opens the file's folder with the file selected. The inspector's button does the same
  • The label matches the OS
  • Revealing a file that's since been moved or deleted doesn't crash or throw
  • The pull request says which OS you tested on

Suggested pull request title: feat(shelf): show copied files in Finder or Explorer

New to OpenPaste? CONTRIBUTING.md covers setup, the code conventions and the checks to run before a pull request (pnpm typecheck, pnpm test, pnpm format, pnpm cleaner). Leave a comment if you're picking this up so nobody doubles up.
