Research direction

The bug is reported at bin/xenv:2144, in the run path that exports decrypted values by name into the current shell. Start by reading that line and the code that decrypts files before running the child command, then reproduce by storing a secret under a name such as PATH and running a command with xenv run. Done means the child environment is built without assigning those names in the parent shell, and a later decryption step still works after such a key is stored.

Description

bug

Files: bin/xenv:2144

Repro: Store a value under the key name. xenv run @dev /usr/bin/env. The export uses the secret as the variable name. A key PATH or IFS changes the shell before later files are decrypted.

Fix: Build the child environment without assigning those names in the current shell. Export from a list, then exec.

Found at 6e8d2b4 by three runs of a whole-repo review team (deploystrata/offload), then hand-checked against the code by Grok. Lines marked Reproduced were also run by Claude.
