Research direction

The ktlint version is pinned in the Spotless configuration in the Gradle build files, which the issue doesn't name, so search for spotless and ktlint there. Bump the version to 1.8.0, then run ./gradlew spotlessApply and ./gradlew spotlessCheck. Done means a PR containing only the version change and the resulting reformatting, with spotlessCheck passing.

Description

enhancement

Spotless uses ktlint 1.3.1, which is quite old (1.8.0 is available).

Upgrading will reformat a lot of files, so it should be done in a separate PR that contains only the version bump and the ./gradlew spotlessApply result.
