Research direction

Start by reproducing the error by placing a Hellavator under trees, then inspect the tree-destruction handling for cases where trunks are removed while branch tiles remain suspended. Done means destroying the tree no longer produces index-out-of-range error spam or freezes the game, ideally within one game frame.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

bug help wanted

The reason this is happening is because the trees are being destroyed incorrectly.

If a tree trunk tile is destroyed leaving the branch tiles suspended in air, then the game will freeze forever.

I need to figure out how to destroy the tree branches first then the tree trunks. Or ideally it would be great if the whole tree could just be destroyed in one game frame.

I have tried again and again to solve this with no luck.

I am at my wits end here. I will be very grateful if someone can solve this issue for me!

Once this issue is resolved I'll be focusing on adding more structures to the mod and proceduraly generated boss arenas. But as it stands right now I don't want to do that with this game breaking issue.
