Research direction

Start by inspecting the component configuration and the current SURF CUDA component usage, then compare that setup with installing only cuda-drivers while letting uv provide required wheels. Done means the component supports a documented lightweight GPU option without requiring the full CUDA runtime.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

This may not require the full CUDA runtime, as uv installs those as a wheel when needed .

So we may be able to avoid using the full SURF cuda component, which takes long to execute, and instead only apt-install cuda-drivers. (It would be nice if the SURF component allowed us to choose for this lightweight option).
