Research direction

Start by surveying the library’s existing matrix types and their supported base types to identify the nearest comparable implementation. Confirm the scope of half-precision support for custom local-space operations and determine which matrix sizes and related operations are required. Done means 16-bit half-float matrices are supported consistently with the library’s other base types.

Description

There are matrices for almost every other base type in the library but not 16-bit half precision float matrices.

This would be extremely useful for reducing memory footprint for custom operations in local space where the inaccuracy of half floats may be negligible / acceptable.
