Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. First clarify the supported currencies, exchange-rate source, price-display behavior, local-currency detection, and settings scope; completion would require an agreed implementation and verification of the selected conversion behavior.

Description

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Around three years ago, Steam moved Turkey and several other countries to the MENA pricing region. Since then, many users have started seeing prices in USD instead of their local currencies on Steam.

Because of this change, many third-party extensions and tools have appeared that convert Steam prices into local currencies. However, it is often difficult for users to know whether these tools are trustworthy, accurate, or safe to use.

Since SteamDB is already a trusted platform within the Steam community, having this functionality directly inside the extension could improve both convenience and trust for users.

Describe the solution you'd like

I would like to suggest adding an optional built-in currency conversion feature to the SteamDB extension.

Possible features could include:

  • Displaying approximate converted prices next to Steam prices
  • Automatically detecting the user’s local currency
  • Allowing manual currency selection
  • Using frequently updated exchange rates
  • Optional enable/disable toggle in extension settings

This is only a feature suggestion for the project. I am not planning to implement it myself, but I believe many users from Turkey and other MENA-region countries would find it very helpful.
