Research direction

The generated Gauss-Legendre rule files live under lib/ (lib/gauss*.c), and packaging is configured in pyproject.toml, with .gitignore controlling which of them are tracked. Start by reading the pyproject.toml build configuration and the .gitignore entries, then check how sasmodels.compare's -ngauss option creates extra rule files. Done means the packaged sdist/wheel ships the standard 20, 76 and 150 rules reliably, and the choice between listing sizes, adjusting .gitignore, or generating on the fly is settled.

Description

Standard gauss-legendre rules (20, 76, 150) are included in the git repo and should be supplied with the application. Other sizes may be present if for example sasmodels.compare was run with -ngauss=500.

Either tweak .gitignore so that pyproject.toml can guess which versions of lib/gauss we want, or explicitly list the target rule sizes in pyproject.toml.

A third option is to dispense with lib/gauss files entirely and generate them on the fly with the new fast G-L generator (#764)
