Research direction

The payload names no files. Start where the window scale factor is rounded and the window size is requested in points, since that is where 1067x800 points becomes 1601x1200 pixels. Check the SDL logical presentation setting that the issue suggests for integer scaling. Done means a unit test with synthetic scale values passes, fractional scales produce an exact whole-number enlargement with borders, and the run no longer warns.

Description

At a fractional display scale (for example Wayland at 150 %), the window factor rounds to 2 and the window is asked for in points; SDL turns 1067x800 points into 1601x1200 pixels, so the run warns and one game column is drawn 3 pixels wide.

Done when:

  • At fractional scales the picture is an exact whole-number enlargement of the game frame, with any odd pixel left as a border (for example SDL's integer-scaled logical presentation), and no warning.
  • A unit test with synthetic scale values; one manual check on a fractional Wayland scale.
