Research direction

The report names the HWinfo sensor plugin and the CPU fan and E_FAN channels, but no source files or tests. Start by reproducing the sensor and channel detection failures on the reported Windows setup, then gather the additional debugging information the reporter offered. Done means identifying why these inputs stopped working and confirming they are detected and update correctly again.

Description

Hardware:

Intel Core Ultra 9 285K w/EKWB waterblock
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z890 APEX
RTX5090 w/EKWB waterblock

OS:

Windows 11 26200.8037

Actions taken:

Updated to latest version as of Sat 4 April 2026.

Symptoms:

Linked HWinfo water temp sensor became stuck at normal running temp. Sensor is linked via plugin.

CPU fan channel no longer detected, resulting in UI showing ? RPM

E_FAN channel no longer detected, resulting in UI showing ? RPM

Unfortunately under load resulted in a catastrophic failure of EKWB watercooling system with burst at a pipe join. Honestly was kinda funny because I only noticed due to burning rubber smell.

I've uninstalled for now while I physically recover the system - but can reinstall afterwards and provide more debugging information if it persists.
