Research direction

Start by reading the storage-adapter protocol and gateway client referenced by the issue, then review the provenance verification work in PR #35 and its dependency issues. Implement the IPFS adapter so it fetches and parses a bundle by CID, compares its bundle_hash with the recorded commitment, and distinguishes unavailable gateway errors from mismatches. Done means matching bundles verify, altered bytes report a mismatch, and an unreachable gateway reports unavailable, with tests and docs included.

Description

enhancement kubo storage tier-2

Summary

Implement the provenance storage-adapter protocol for IPFS so verification can check stored evidence by CID.

Estimated size: M

Proposal

  • Fetch the bundle by CID through the gateway client, parse it, and compare its bundle_hash with the recorded commitment.
  • Raise explicit unavailable vs mismatch errors so transport problems are never reported as tampering.

Acceptance criteria

  • A matching stored bundle verifies; altered bytes report a mismatch; an unreachable gateway reports unavailable.

Dependencies

  • #73
  • #4 and the provenance verification PR (#35) merged first.

Part of #43. Ground rules for the content layer: no secrets in the repo, content-layer failures must never block or discard quantum execution, and tests and docs ship with every PR.
