Research direction

Start by tracing the audio preview and loop playback entry points; the issue does not name files or tests. Reproduce the reported gap with the supplied looping audio example and inspect how playback restarts between iterations. Done means the next iteration starts without an audible gap, or a configurable delay is provided.

Description

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Enabling the loop function when previewing audio files in QuickLook adds a short gap between each iteration of the file being played, roughly 150 ms of silence.

For audio that is intended to be looped (audio beds, drum loops, etc.), this makes proper previewing difficult.

I've noticed that the gap is not consistent, seems to be anywhere from 100 ms to 250 ms. I don't know if that variation correlates with anything else.

Describe the solution you'd like

I'd like for the loop function to enable seamless loops, where the next iteration of the file starts playing immediately after the previous iteration finishes, with no gap between.

Alternatively, if some users have legitimate reasons for wanting the silent gap between iterations, perhaps it could be a configurable option. Something like "Delay between loop iterations: 0-1000 ms".

Describe alternatives you've considered

When I need to preview audio files with proper looping, I must currently open them in an audio editor or DAW, which takes away from the otherwise extremely fast and convenient workflow of using QuickLook.
