Research direction

Read src/main/tools/regex_worker.ts and files.ts around line 142, then trace how grep/glob calls start and stop workers and how timeouts or stopped calls are handled. The issue proposes a small reusable worker pool; done means calls can reuse workers while timed-out or stopped calls still terminate their worker. Add or run relevant tests for these lifecycle cases; none are named in the issue.

Description

enhancement performance priority: low severity: low

Suggestion from the 2026-10-07 code review (not a bug).

Each grep/glob call starts and terminates its own Worker (src/main/tools/regex_worker.ts, files.ts:142), which costs roughly 30–50 ms per call. The model often sends several in parallel.

Proposal

Keep a small pool of workers and terminate a worker only when a pattern times out or the call is stopped.
