Research direction

Read integrations/catalog/exa.json and integrations/catalog/tavily.json to follow the catalog entry shape, then inspect the integration build script or package task used by npm run build:integrations. Add the ContextFetch entry and regenerate catalog-index.js; done when it appears alongside the existing web search integrations and the generated catalog is current. The issue notes account management tools that can change billing settings, so confirm their inclusion with the maintainer during review.

Request

Add ContextFetch to the integrations catalog (integrations/catalog/) so it appears on the OpenHands MCP page next to the existing web search entries (Tavily, Exa, Brave Search, Kagi).

What ContextFetch provides

  • Web search and page-contents API for agents (no LLM in the pipeline; results are ranked passages and Markdown). API base: https://api.contextfetch.dev. Docs: https://contextfetch.dev/docs
  • MCP server published on npm as @contextfetch/mcp (stdio, Node >= 18), run with npx -y @contextfetch/mcp.
  • Auth: CONTEXTFETCH_API_KEY environment variable. Without it the server falls back to a keyless tier limited to 25 requests/day per IP.
  • Tools exposed by @contextfetch/[email protected]: contextfetch_search, contextfetch_extract_url, contextfetch_find_similar, contextfetch_research, contextfetch_deep_research, contextfetch_answer, contextfetch_crawl, contextfetch_map, contextfetch_balance, contextfetch_auto_reload, contextfetch_get_free_key.
    • Note for review: contextfetch_auto_reload can change the account's credit auto-reload settings (card saved at checkout, capped at $500/month), and contextfetch_get_free_key requests a free key. If that is not wanted in the catalog default, say so and we can add a flag to the server to omit account-management tools.

Proposed catalog entry

integrations/catalog/contextfetch.json, same shape as exa.json / tavily.json: one api connection option, provider: "mcp", stdio transport, command: "npx", args: ["-y", "@contextfetch/mcp"], one envFields entry CONTEXTFETCH_API_KEY (type: "password", required: true, helper link to https://contextfetch.dev), auth.strategy: "api_key". docsUrl: https://github.com/lachy3433/contextfetch-mcp. catalog-index.js regenerated with npm run build:integrations.

The key is marked required to match the other search entries and avoid sending queries anonymously, even though the server can run keyless.

Verification done

Ran the published package over stdio with a test key (initialize, tools/list, then tools/call contextfetch_search with query: "OpenHands software agent SDK"): tools/list returned the tools above, and the search returned results with isError: false (first hit https://docs.openhands.dev/sdk).

Disclosure

Opened on behalf of the ContextFetch maintainer. A PR can follow once this is triaged; per the PR template, the HUMAN: testing note would be written by the maintainer.
